If any one thing started me off in this direction more than any other, it was hunting. I started hunting with my good friend Nick Chaset in 2007, after being taken out by a co-worker. Nick and I hunted wild boar in California multiple times and the experience left an indellible mark on my psyche. Hunting taught me about wild food and how to be a part of the wild rather than simply visit. Between hunting and the food movement in San Francisco, the table was set for my departure from the domestic world.
After our first few hunts Nick and I decided to start the Bull Moose Hunting Society. The society connects hunters and non-hunters to spread knowledge, create community and provide an outlet for people like me who didn’t know squat about hunting when they started. Check out the site to join the society, or start your local chapter.
